Cincinnati, Ohio (May 27, 2010) – Athletes United Foundation is gearing up for the fifth annual Kroger Celebrity Gridiron Challenge. The two-day event will take place on June 3rd and 4th and is being held at two popular local establishments. Dave Lapham, Bengals radio personality will emcee the pre-event dinner and draft party that will occur at The Original Montgomery Inn, followed by the second day of activities at Paul Brown Stadium.

Rey Maualuga and Andrew Whitworth will serve as the celebrity co-hosts for the 2010 Kroger Gridiron. He will be joined by some of his Bengals teammates including Cedric Benson, Keith Rivers, Domata Peko and Leon Hall in this ultimate corporate flag football challenge.

Over twenty teams with seven players each will gather together to kickoff the festivities during an evening at Montgomery Inn. After the conclusion of the meal and the opportunity to bid on the silent auction items, the competitive spirit of the event will kick into full gear as teams prepare to select the eighth member of their team – a Bengals player to fill the spot of celebrity quarterback. Once the teams are established, the game is on.

Participating teams will reconvene on Friday morning for a day filled with football and fun. All individuals will receive a personal gift bag upon arrival and will have all day access to the VIP tent, which will be stocked with cuisine from various vendors.

The flag football games consist of two preliminary rounds and a tournament, followed by the finals for both the looser and the winner brackets. Regardless of final standings, all teams should feel rewarded by their charitable contribution, as the proceeds from the Gridiron Challenge will benefit The Locker Program, a “giving initiative” helping children-in-need.
